Job summary

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Center for Quantum Computing (CQC) in San Francisco seeks a Senior Applied Scientist to research and design cryogenic control hardware for large-scale quantum processors, emphasizing superconducting digital circuits. You will model and simulate superconducting logic and co-design control approaches with qubit devices.

Responsibilities span concept to fabrication handoff and peer-reviewed dissemination.

Qualifications

• PhD, or Master’s degree with 7+ years applied research experience.
• Proficiency in Java, C++, Python or related language.
• Proven record of patents or publications in top-tier venues.
• Experience with circuit design and simulation.
• Familiarity with superconducting qubit control and readout.
• Experience designing superconducting digital circuits and Josephson-junction circuits.

Responsibilities

• Design and simulate superconducting digital circuits and cryogenic control/readout electronics for scalable qubit control.
• Develop and validate Josephson-junction circuit models, timing and margin analyses, and verification methodology.
• Quantify system-level trade-offs and communicate recommendations.
• Co-design control interfaces with qubit-device colleagues.
• Deliver design artifacts through tapeout-ready layouts and verification reports.
• Present results internally and publish in peer-reviewed venues.
