Job summary

D-Wave Systems Inc. is seeking a Senior Quantum Software Engineer, Compiler, to advance the core software platform and tooling for translating quantum circuits into low-level control sequences.

You will work with cross-functional teams including quantum physicists and embedded engineers. The ideal candidate has a Master’s in a physical or computational field, 5+ years of software experience in C/C++ and Python, and deep knowledge of compiler design and quantum programming models.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science, electrical/computer engineering, math, physics, chemistry, or equivalent with strong physics aptitude.
• 5+ years of hands-on software development experience with C, C++, Python, or another general-purpose language.
• Strong understanding of compiler design fundamentals.
• Experience with compiler toolchains and intermediate representations (LLVM/MLIR/QIR).
• Proficient with Git version control, build tools, and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers, scientists, and engineers to translate requirements into technical specifications and robust solutions.
• Translate quantum circuits into implementations targeting the dual-rail qubit architecture.
• Architect and build efficient, reliable compiler software and tools.
• Write clean, well-documented code and conduct thorough code reviews.
