Job summary

Qualifications

• Commercially astute with knowledge of standard forms of contract and standard methods of measurement.
• Strong communication, presentation and negotiation abilities.
• Experience in a construction/engineering environment with a commercial focus.
• General civils experience.
• 5+ years QS experience, ideally 2+ years as an SQS.
• Proficient in MS Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Prepare internal commercial reports and other required reports.
• Prepare valuations/applications for payment with supporting documentation per contract.
• Prepare Cost Reports to the Client with contractually compliant documents.
• Manage subcontract and material procurement schedules.
• Administer subcontractor/supplier accounts from requisitions to final accounts.
• Undertake contract administration including change management and registers.
• Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change.
• Utilise the costing system.

Job Overview

Quantity: 3 roles available due to expansion in the North East and West

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor who will be responsible for estimating and controlling costs for our projects, ensuring that structures meet legal and quality standards. The role involves participation at every stage of a project, based at our office in Rugby with site visits within the North of England.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required
• Preparation of valuations/applications for payment with supporting documentation in accordance with the contract.
• Preparation of Cost Reports to the Client with contractually compliant supporting documentation.
• Preparation and management of subcontract and material procurement schedules.
• Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts.
• Undertake contract administration, including change management and maintenance of associated registers.
• Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change.
• Utilise the costing system.

Qualifications

• Relevant industry qualification
• Commercially astute with knowledge of standard forms of contract and standard methods of measurement.
• Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office Applications (Word/Excel/Outlook/Powerpoint).
• Good communication skills including presentations and ability to negotiate and persuade others.
• Experience within a construction/engineering industry and commercial background.
• General civils experience.
• Have at least 5 years QS experience, and ideally a minimum of 2 years as a SQS.
