Job summary

The Clancy Group in the UK is seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team, focusing on delivering commercially sound infrastructure projects. You’ll work closely with operations and planning to ensure projects are well controlled and profitable, with an emphasis on NEC contracts and high-volume works.

You'll bring strong Excel skills, experience with subcontractor management, and a proactive, communicative approach.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing subcontractors and high-volume works.
  • Willingness to travel and hold a UK driving licence.
  • Proactive, commercially aware and good communicator.

Responsibilities

  • Produce weekly cost and revenue reports to track commercial performance.
  • Control submissions of completed works and ensure accurate capture.
  • Prepare and manage Schedule of Rates for high-volume works.
  • Reconcile subcontractor costs and produce payment certificates.
  • Monitor progress, variations and scope changes with Operations and Planning.
  • Review schemes to ensure targets and forecasts stay on track.
  • Price completed works accurately and efficiently.
  • Attend and contribute to client WIP meetings.
  • Analyse weekly and monthly financial data for informed decisions.

Quantity Surveyor

We have a great opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join our high-performing commercial team. This is a role where you’ll be right at the heart of delivery — working closely with operational and planning teams to make sure projects are commercially sound, well controlled and set up for success. As the utilities sector continues to evolve, this role offers the chance to contribute to smarter, more sustainable ways of delivering critical infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
  • Producing weekly cost and revenue reports to track commercial performance
  • Controlling submissions of completed jobs and ensuring accurate capture of works delivered
  • Preparing and managing Schedule of Rates for high-volume engineering works
  • Reconciling subcontractor costs and producing payment certificates
  • Working closely with Operations and Planning to monitor progress, variations and scope changes
  • Reviewing schemes to ensure commercial targets and forecasts remain on track
  • Pricing completed works accurately and efficiently
  • Attending and contributing to client WIP (Work in Progress) meetings

What We’re Looking For

You’re an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a background in utilities or civil engineering and a strong understanding of NEC contracts. You’ll be proactive, commercially astute and comfortable working at pace, with the confidence to challenge, problem-solve and influence outcomes. Strong Excel skills are essential and you’ll be confident using formulas, pivot tables and VLOOKUPs, with a clear focus on accuracy and data integrity. Experience managing subcontractors and supporting high-volume works is highly desirable, as is a willingness to support and develop junior team members. Additionally, you’ll be an effective communicator who enjoys building strong relationships with clients and colleagues, and you’ll hold a full UK driving licence with the flexibility to travel to site when required.
