Job summary

HarbourVest seeks a Senior Associate, Quantitative Researcher to join the QIS team. The role focuses on developing quantitative models for private markets, analyzing large proprietary datasets, and delivering insights for investment diligence and fundraising.

You will collaborate with investment strategy teams, apply ML/AI techniques, and communicate findings clearly. The position is hybrid with a strong emphasis on rigorous statistical work.

Qualifications

• 5-7+ years of relevant experience in quantitative research, quantitative investing, or related quantitative finance roles.
• Excellent Python programming and SQL skills.
• Experience analyzing large datasets and applying statistical methods.
• Ability to clearly communicate quantitative insights to investment teams.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or Ph.D. preferred in a technical field.

Responsibilities

• Conduct quantitative/statistical analysis of private markets and investment opportunities (80%).
• Lead analysis of proprietary datasets and models to characterize market risk/return relationships; evaluate opportunities for investment diligence.
• Perform data exploration and visualization to test investment hypotheses.
• Communicate analysis results and actionable insights to the investment team.
• Support integration of QIS models with fundamental deal analysis; apply AI/ML techniques to advance the process.
• Respond to ad-hoc quantitative analysis requests (20%): support client-facing teams with analyses and requests.
