Job summary

Morningstar is seeking a Senior Quantitative Analyst to join the Quantitative Research team. You will contribute to developing and enhancing the Morningstar Risk analytics platform, applying proprietary methodologies to analyze investment risk across stocks, bonds, and portfolios.

You will own projects end-to-end, from framing through production, and collaborate with product and engineering teams. You will evaluate AI approaches, communicate complex concepts clearly, and become a subject-matter

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years in quantitative research or related field.
Master’s degree with 3+ years in quantitative research or related field.
Strong knowledge of investing and financial markets.
Proficient in Python and SQL with production-quality code.
Experience with AWS tools (S3/EMR/Athena) preferred.
Able to explain methodologies clearly to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement methodologies for Morningstar's Risk analytics products.
Collaborate with analysts and software engineers to advance analytical suites.
Become SME on fixed income, equity, and mutual funds.
Develop understanding of Morningstar data systems and support model validation.
Own projects end-to-end from framing to production handoff and liaise with Product/Engineering.
Review peers’ work for soundness and actionable insights.
Evaluate AI approaches and promote responsible AI practices.
