Job summary

Amprius Technologies is seeking a Senior Quality Manager to own quality across the organization, from incoming materials to shipped cells. You will lead the QMS, earn and maintain AS9100 certification, and develop supplier and CM quality programs as the company expands its manufacturing network.

Travel up to 20% to supplier and CM sites, including Asia. The ideal candidate holds 10+ years in hardware quality, 4+ years leading teams, and a track record of AS9100/ISO 9001 certification.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in quality for manufactured hardware.
• 4+ years managing quality teams.
• Led organization through AS9100 or ISO 9001 certification as QMS owner.
• Strong supplier quality background: audits, PPAP or FAI, CAPA and 8D methods.
• Skilled with core quality tools: FMEA, control plans, SPC and MSA.

Responsibilities

• Own the Quality Management System (QMS) and AS9100 certification efforts and maintain surveillance audits.
• Lead supplier and contract-manufacturer quality programs with quarterly scorecards and CAPA processes.
• Lead cell quality, certification testing (UN 38.3, IEC 62133) and inbound/outbound inspection strategy.
• Drive continuous improvement with Lean and Six Sigma projects; build and develop the quality team.

The role

We are looking for a Senior Quality Manager to own quality across Amprius, from incoming materials and contract manufacturers to the cells we ship to customers. You will lead our quality management system, earn and maintain AS9100 certification, and build a supplier and CM quality program that grows with our manufacturing network. Reporting to Managing Director, Operations. Travel up to 20%, including supplier and CM sites in Asia.

What you will do

Quality management system

• Own the QMS and lead Amprius through AS9100 certification, then maintain it through surveillance audits.
• Set quality policy, objectives and metrics, and report quality performance to leadership.
• Own document control and records requirements, in partnership with the PLM and change control rollout.

Supplier and CM quality

• Build the supplier quality program: audits, qualification, PPAP or first-article approval and ongoing monitoring.
• Publish quarterly scorecards (yield, cost, on-time delivery) for every active supplier and CM.
• Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to fast closure and prevent repeat issues.
• Support new CM and second-source qualifications with Supply Chain.

Cell quality and certification

• Make sure every shipping product is tested and certified before shipment (UN 38.3, IEC 62133 and customer requirements).
• Lead incoming, in-process and outgoing inspection and test strategy at Fremont and at CMs.
• Lead customer quality: complaints, returns, failure analysis and 8D reports.

Continuous improvement and team

• Run Lean and Six Sigma improvement projects with measurable savings.
• Hire and develop the quality team, including supplier quality engineers assigned to specific CMs and material families.

What you bring

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, materials science or a related technical field.
• 10+ years in quality for manufactured hardware, including 4+ years managing quality teams.
• Has led an organization through AS9100 or ISO 9001 certification as the QMS owner.
• Strong supplier quality background: audits, PPAP or FAI, and CAPA and 8D methods.
• Skilled with core quality tools: FMEA, control plans, SPC and MSA.

Nice to have

• Lithium-ion cell or battery quality, including UN 38.3 and IEC 62133 testing.
• Quality oversight of contract manufacturers, especially in Asia.
• ASQ CQE or CQM certification; Six Sigma Black Belt; AS9100 lead auditor.
