Job summary

United Future in Bristol, CT seeks an experienced Quality Manager to lead the Quality department in a precision manufacturing operation, maintaining AS9100 QMS and ensuring parts meet customer and regulatory requirements. You will oversee a small inspection and QA group, perform first article and in-process inspections, read complex drawings, and drive continuous improvement with lean methods.

Strong knowledge of GD&T, CMM systems, root-cause analysis, and staff development is essential;

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive experience in quality, inspection, or related roles for precision-machined parts.
• 10+ years of quality experience within an AS9100-certified QMS.
• Experience leading a Quality department and supervising inspectors.
• Hands-on experience performing first article, first-piece, in-process, and final inspections.
• Strong knowledge of AS9100 requirements, internal auditing, and external audit preparation.
• Ability to read complex drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and measurement equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Quality department and manage two to three inspection and QA employees.
• Maintain and continuously improve the AS9100-certified Quality Management System.
• Supervise and personally perform first article, first-piece, in-process, and final inspections.
• Program, operate, and maintain CMM and vision-inspection systems.
• Coordinate internal and supplier quality audits.
• Train machine operators and inspectors on blueprint reading, measurement methods, and GD&T.
• Partner with engineering and manufacturing leadership for root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Lead continuous-improvement efforts involving SPC, process capability, and lean practices.
