Job summary

PTR Global in Sinking Spring, PA is seeking a hands-on Quality Manager to lead an aluminum casting operation. You will work on the manufacturing floor with production, engineering, and quality teams to identify problems, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions that reduce scrap and improve customer quality.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in manufacturing quality or foundry environments, experience with 8D, 5-Why, FMEA, SPC, control plans, PPAP/APQP, and ISO 9001.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing quality, foundry operations, casting, metallurgy, or a closely related environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead hands-on root-cause investigations and corrective actions for manufacturing and casting defects.
• Utilize structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, A3, and FMEA.
• Drive measurable reductions in scrap, rework, nonconformances, and customer escapes.
• Partner directly with molding, melt, core, machining, engineering, and production teams to correct quality issues at the source.
• Establish and maintain SPC, control plans, FMEAs, and process controls for critical manufacturing parameters.
• Support continuous improvement across aluminum casting and machining operations.
• Lead and maintain the ISO 9001 Quality Management System, including audits, document control, management review, and corrective actions.
• Manage customer quality concerns, containment, CARs, returns, FAI, and applicable PPAP/APQP requirements.
• Support supplier quality and supplier corrective-action activities.
• Partner with metallurgical and laboratory functions involving material chemistry, mechanical testing, failure analysis, calibration, and measurement systems.
• Support inspection and NDT processes as applicable.
• Coach and develop Quality team members to strengthen their root-cause analysis and corrective-action capabilities.
• Support quality requirements associated with defense/government manufacturing, including traceability, material certifications, FAI, and applicable specifications.
