Job summary

The Marvin Group, a Southern California defense contractor, seeks a Quality Inspector III to join a fast-paced lab and shop environment. You will perform dimensional inspections using CMMs/Verisurf CAI systems, apply GD&T, and communicate results to engineers and customers.

The role requires at least 5 years of inspection experience, strong technical drawing interpretation, and the ability to mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5 years of experience as a dimensional inspector.
• 3+ years operating CAI equipment such as CMMs (Verisurf) at operator level.
• Strong understanding of GD&T principles.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and contractual requirements with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in basic algebra and trigonometry.
• Proficient with MS Word and Excel.
• Ability to work independently and lift up to 35 lbs.
• Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Perform independent inspections, validations, and verifications of hardware to ensure drawings and contract compliance.
• Use surface plates and CAI equipment (CMMs Verisurf) at operator level.
• Operate CAI tools such as FARO/Romer arms, laser trackers, and video dimensioning systems.
• Apply GD&T principles including angularity, profile, runout, symmetry, and true position.
• Calculate true positions using basic algebra and trigonometry.
• Communicate inspection results to customers, engineers, and management.
• Interpret CAI programs/models and oversee junior inspectors as needed.
• Conduct casting and forging layouts and support source inspections.
• Travel as required to support quality needs.
