A.R. Mazzotta is seeking a Senior Quality Inspector – Layout & First Article for the Waterbury, CT area.

This direct-hire role focuses on complex layout inspections and First Article Inspections (FAIs) of precision‑manufactured components, with GD&T interpretation and meticulous documentation of results. You will mentor less experienced inspectors, collaborate with Engineering, Production and Quality teams to resolve issues, and contribute to ongoing quality improvement in a stable,

Qualifications

• 10+ years in quality inspection in a manufacturing environment.
• Minimum 3 years performing advanced layout inspections and First Article Inspections.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and blueprint interpretation.
• Proficiency using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges).
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsabilités

• Assist with root cause investigations and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

In This Role You'll

• Perform complex layout inspections and First Article Inspections (FAIs) on precision‑manufactured components
• Verify dimensions and tolerances using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, sine plates, and related inspection tools
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements
• Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to resolve inspection and manufacturing issues
• Assist with root cause investigations and continuous quality improvement initiatives
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced inspectors

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment
• Minimum 3 years performing advanced layout inspections and First Article Inspections
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and blueprint interpretation
• Proficiency using a wide variety of precision measuring instruments
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem‑solving skills
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing or developing custom inspection gages
• Background in precision machining, aerospace, medical device, or other high‑tolerance manufacturing environments
