JOB SUMMARY:
The Sr. Quality Inspector is responsible for the receiving and review of all incoming receiving inspection material to ensure that the quality of product as well as documentation meets New World Medical requirements. Maintains quality standards by approving/releasing incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products, recording quality results.
Contacts are frequent with individuals representing other departments, and/or representing outside organizations. Contacts involve obtaining or providing information or data on matters of moderate importance to the functions of the department which may be of a sensitive nature.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of New World Medical’s Quality System.
- Performs verification of incoming products such as raw materials/critical components, sub-assemblies, and finished goods.
- Completes receiving inspection per sampling plans by measuring dimensions, such as length, height and distance, between reference points. Using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers dial indicators, and SmartScope, to ensure product meets specifications.
- Approves and releases incoming receiving inspection materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
- Approves in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor.
- Approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work.
- Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database.
- Reports quality issues or findings to QC Supervisor and follows up to ensure that corrective actions are executed in a timely manner.
- Initiates Non-Conformity Reports (NCRs) and follows up for Completion of Disposition.
- Communicate with suppliers and supplier engineer to report findings, quality issues, and process improvements.
- Maintain records of inspections and prepares list of defects, interacts with other departments to ensure compliance with specification, and to facilitate the acceptance of parts.
- Communicates with QC Supervisor when incoming inspections are completed.
- Completes First Article Inspections as instructed by Quality Supervisor.
- Generates and/or updates procedures, work instructions, inspection documents/routines/programs as instructed by Quality Supervisor.
- Undertake and complete/delegate assignments as determined by Quality Supervisor or by the department head.
- Performs Quality PM/ equipment verification when necessary.
- Perform EM (Environmental Monitoring) when necessary
- Reviews and approves Finished Goods Device History Record (DHRs) to release product to inventory
- Troubleshoot Vision system/ QC Gage programs when necessary.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to communicate in writing and orally with supervisors and co-workers.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Applications (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PP, MS Outlook).
- Experience in QC Inspections; familiarity with Quality System Regulations and ISO 13485.
- Experience with SAP, MiniTab, and SOP writing, a plus.
- Must be self-motivated and a good team player.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma and 5 years of related experience.
- Additional professional certifications, a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to safely lift and/or handle items weighing up to 40 pounds on occasion. This may be performed with reasonable accommodation.
- Must have good vision, corrected or otherwise.
- Must have the ability to sit, listen, speak, type, and move throughout the facility
- Must be able to perform inspection tasks by using hand tools and other tools that require hand movements and visual ability.
- View and type on computer screens for long periods of time.
