Job summary

Planet seeks an experienced, hands-on Quality Engineer to support QMS implementation and drive process design and continuous improvement in our San Francisco manufacturing facility. You will work with cross-functional teams to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and elevate product reliability across manufacturing operations.

You will perform hands-on quality inspections, root-cause analyses, and shop-floor troubleshooting while mentoring technicians and ensuring strong quality controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering and related technical discipline.
• 6+ years of experience in quality engineering, QA, or manufacturing ops.
• 2+ years hands-on experience as a quality technician or inspection engineer.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar QMS; implementation and audits preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings with GD&T.
• Lean, 5S, root-cause methodologies, and continuous improvement experience.

Responsibilities

• Implement and audit Quality Management Systems (QMS) with a cross-functional team.
• Mentor quality technicians on inspection techniques and SOPs.
• Prepare for internal and vendor audits and report KPIs to leadership.
• Develop standardized inspection protocols for raw material, in-process, and final release.
• Provide hands-on quality engineering support to resolve line-side issues.
