Qualifications

The Senior Quality Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting department metrics, contributing to our global strategy, and fulfilling our mission to improve human welfare by supporting the manufacture of products that alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life. In our Structural Heart Post Market Quality Department, we collaborate internally and externally to plan and execute post-market strategies for continuous improvement of products, methodologies, processes, and departmental interfaces, while building, motivating, and leading high-performance teams.

A Day in The Life Of:

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Apply knowledge of design control principles and quality engineering techniques throughout the product development process and lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to ensure quality standards are in place.
  • Work with the complaints team for complex investigations.
  • Provide Design Assurance support for various initiatives.
  • Review and approve design changes and assess their impact to ensure reliability requirements are met.
  • Contribute to design and manufacturing deliverables to ensure manufacturability and testability.
  • Understand risk management concepts to meet FDA, ISO, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Perform reliability analyses to understand product and process robustness.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in reliability and patient safety risk assessments.
  • Propose design or process changes to improve reliability.
  • Develop master test plans to meet regulatory and quality objectives.
  • Support audits (MDR/MDSAP/FDA, etc.).
Key Skills & Experience
  • Advanced knowledge of job area, obtained through education and experience.
  • Minimum Level 8 degree in Engineering or relevant discipline, with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Practical project management knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience in a regulated industry, preferably medical devices.
  • Ability to solve complex issues with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to operate in a matrix organization and navigate complex systems and standards.
  • Knowledge of reliability tools and practices.
  • Critical thinking skills focused on system performance and business impact.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
