Senior Quality Engineer — Manufacturing & Process Excellence

Job summary

Metalex LLC, in Libertyville, IL, seeks a Sr. Quality Engineer to ensure products meet customer and internal quality standards. Reports to Quality Manager and participates in manufacturing process development, costing, and change control.

Requirements include a BS in Engineering, 3+ years in Engineering/Quality, and strong SAP ERP and PPAP knowledge; excellent communication and multitasking abilities are essential. This is a full-time on-site role with potential for temporary market conditions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• Three (3) years of Engineering and Quality experience.
• Strong knowledge of SAP ERP system.
• Understanding of Production Part Approval Process.
• Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Maintain product setup and documentation including part numbers, part descriptions, BOMs, routings, labor rates, etc.
• Perform costing of new and existing part numbers, and process engineering change notices
• Conduct time studies; determine manufacturing process times and capacities
• Utilize product drawings, specifications, and other engineering data to develop processes
• Support manufacturing operations such as: Tooling, stamping, perforating, expanding, forming and welding
• Determine the sequence of steps in manufacturing processes, such as manufacturing costing, fabrication and assembly, required to complete product development while meeting safety, quality and cost goals
• Develop and implement Corrective Action Plans for manufacturing processes and/or customer complaints
