Job summary

METALEX is seeking a Sr. Quality Engineer in Libertyville, IL to ensure product quality and compliance with customer and internal requirements.

The role reports to the Quality Manager and involves maintaining documentation, costing, time studies, and developing manufacturing processes. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, 3 years of relevant experience, and strong SAP PPAP knowledge, with excellent communication and detail orientation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required.
• Three (3) years of Engineering and Quality experience required.
• Strong knowledge of SAP ERP system required.
• Understanding of Production Part Approval Process required.
• Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills required.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Ensure quality standards for products procured or manufactured are in accordance with customer and/or internal quality requirements.
• Reports to Quality Manager.
• Maintain product setup and documentation including part numbers, part descriptions, BOMs, routings, labor rates, etc.
• Perform costing of new and existing part numbers, and process engineering change notices
• Conduct time studies; determine manufacturing process times and capacities
• Utilize product drawings, specifications, and other engineering data to develop processes
• Support manufacturing operations such as Tooling, stamping, perforating, expanding, forming and welding
• Determine the sequence of steps in manufacturing processes, such as manufacturing costing, fabrication and assembly, required to complete product development while meeting safety, quality and cost goals
• Develop and implement Corrective Action Plans for manufacturing processes and/or customer complaints
