Job summary

RTX is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer for the Hot Section Module Center (HSMC) in East Hartford to support quality activities in production and development of turbine airfoils. You will partner with shop floor and inspection staff to ensure robust quality, lead investigations, and support audits.

The role requires a STEM degree with several years in engineering or manufacturing quality, experience with inspection tooling, and familiarity with AS9100 principles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a STEM or related field with 3+ years (Master’s with 3+ years) experience in engineering, manufacturing operations, quality or related environment.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
• Familiar with inspection tooling and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to the inspection and manufacturing communities; interface with shop floor operators and inspection staff.
• Evaluate manufacturing processes and hardware to ensure compliance with applicable requirements.
• Support day-to-day manufacturing activities including review/approval of work instructions, PARs, and first article inspections (FAI).
• Perform data analysis of quality nonconformances and support root-cause investigations with corrective actions.

What You Will Do

Hot Section Module Center (HSMC)South is a world class fabricator of both military and commercial turbine airfoils. HSMC South is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer- HSMC in the production and development of turbine airfoils.

• Provide technical support to the inspection and manufacturing communities; interface directly with shop floor operators and inspection staff
• Evaluate manufacturing processes and hardware to determine compliance to applicable requirements
• Support day-to-day manufacturing activities such as review and approval of work instructions, process authorization requests(PAR), and first article inspections (FAI)
• Perform data analysis of quality nonconformances
  Support shop non-compliance investigations to determine root cause, identifying robust corrective actions and tracking effectiveness
• Support preparation efforts for third party and customer quality audits
• Support product escape investigations and population bounding efforts
• Construct and perform quality presentations to a technical community

Qualifications You Must Have

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM or related field and 5 or more years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing operations, quality or related environment environment, OR a Master’s Degree and 3 or more years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing operations, quality or related environment
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
• Familiar with inspection tooling and techniques

Qualifications We Prefer

• Knowledge/experience with quality systems and standards such as AS9100
• Proficient in the use of continuous improvement tools, such as relentless root cause analysis (RRCA) and principles of lean manufacturing
• ASQ/CQE

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
