Job summary

STEM Search Group in Spartanburg, SC is seeking a Quality Assurance leader for a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing site. You will serve as the primary contact for customer quality issues, lead investigations, verify defects on the production line, and drive CAPAs with cross-functional teams.

You will mentor quality auditors, coordinate shift coverage, review data (SPC, Gauge R&R), and collaborate with site leadership on release decisions. Travel to customer or supplier sites as needed.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of quality assurance experience in fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • 2+ years leadership experience, coordinating schedules and assigning tasks to quality staff.
  • Hands-on leadership of root cause investigations (8D, 5-Why, or fishbone) and CAPA.
  • Strong knowledge of SPC, process capability analysis, and gauge R&R.
  • Comfortable on the production floor collaborating with operators, auditors, and lab personnel.
  • Experience communicating quality issues directly with customers as a primary contact.
  • Proactive, resourceful problem-solver with travel flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer quality complaints, acknowledging issues, opening investigations, and personally verifying defects on the production line.
  • Lead root cause investigations (8D, 5-Why, fishbone) with cross-functional teams and drive corrective and preventive actions through to closure.
  • Coordinate daily operations for quality auditors across multiple shifts, reviewing open issues and directing follow-up based on data.
  • Perform statistical review of quality data, including SPC and Gauge R&R, to identify and correct process issues.
  • Advise on release/hold decisions for affected product with site leadership, and communicate outcomes to customers.
  • Support internal, supplier, and third-party audits, and maintain site quality management system documentation.
  • Conduct routine quality inspections across the facility.
  • Travel occasionally to customer or supplier sites to verify issues firsthand.
  • Mentor and develop quality auditors/technicians, stepping in to cover shifts when needed to keep production moving.

Job description

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of overall Quality Assurance experience in fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • 2+ years leadership experience, coordinating schedules and assigning tasks to quality auditors and technicians.
  • Hands-on experience personally leading root cause investigations (8D, 5-Why, and/or fishbone), corrective and preventive actions.
  • Strong working knowledge of statistical process control, process capability analysis, and gauge R&R.
  • Comfortable spending real time on the production floor, working directly with operators, auditors, and lab personnel.
  • Experience communicating directly with customers on quality issues, comfortable being a primary point of contact.
