Job summary

Cindavi is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to lead the quality strategy at our Harlan, IA manufacturing site, driving gap analysis, APQP, PFMEA, control plans, and advanced root-cause investigations.

You will manage qualifications, strengthen QMS, and coach the quality team, with ~15% travel to supplier sites and cross-functional collaboration across production, engineering, and global teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
• Five or more years of manufacturing quality experience.
• Practical expertise in APQP, PFMEA, control plans, process capability, statistical methods, and advanced root cause analysis.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, weldments, assemblies, and fabrication processes.
• A systematic, risk-based approach suited to high product, project, and supplier complexity.
• A Certified Quality Engineer credential, or the willingness to earn one within your first year.
• Strong cross-functional leadership, communication, Excel, and data-analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead site-level quality strategy, beginning with a comprehensive gap analysis and actionable improvement plan.
• Drive APQP activities from concept through customer delivery, including PFMEAs, control plans, quality plans, and inspection and test requirements.
• Lead advanced root cause investigations and corrective actions using tools such as DMAIC, 8D, mistake proofing, Fishbone analysis, and fault tree analysis.
• Manage process and product qualifications, including capability studies, Gage R&R, statistical analysis, and production controls.
• Strengthen QMS and ISO 9001 compliance, oversee audit activity, and monitor trends involving rejects, corrective actions, and nonconformances.
• Coach quality team members, resolve escalations, and partner with production, engineering, suppliers, customers, Sales, and global quality teams.

About the Position:

We are hiring a Senior Quality Engineer to lead quality strategy at our Harlan, Iowa manufacturing site. This newly created role offers the opportunity to assess our current systems, identify gaps, and build a prioritized roadmap for stronger processes, training, and performance. You will support a highly varied operation spanning recurring production and custom projects across metal fabrication, welding, plastics, wire and cable, rail products, and complex assemblies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead site-level quality strategy, beginning with a comprehensive gap analysis and actionable improvement plan.
• Drive APQP activities from concept through customer delivery, including PFMEAs, control plans, quality plans, and inspection and test requirements.
• Lead advanced root cause investigations and corrective actions using tools such as DMAIC, 8D, mistake proofing, Fishbone analysis, and fault tree analysis.

This is a primarily plant-based role with approximately 15% travel, generally for supplier visits.
