The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for delivering and coordinating all testing artifacts and activities (Test Estimates, Test Strategy, Test Plan, Test Cases, Test Automation Scripts, and Test results) for the various applications managed within Crate & Barrel’s technology portfolio. This role reports to the Manager or Senior Manager, Technology Quality Engineering. The focus will be on Crate & Barrel’s new and existing Ecommerce, Marketing systems, Store Operations, or Customer Facing solutions in stores.

This position is fully remote.

A day in the life as a Senior Quality Engineer...

1. Responsible for all aspects of testing and Quality Engineering through the full project/sprint lifecycle (from conception through implementation) under the direction of the Manager/Sr. Manager.
2. Understand full end-to-end business processes and transaction flows across systems for the specific areas you are responsible for.
3. Own manual & automated test script development and execution, data sourcing/data provisioning, defect analysis, and proper documentation according to the test strategy.
4. Partner with business analysts, product managers, developers, and end-users to develop or modify test scripts for new functionalities and enhancements.
5. Facilitate User Acceptance Testing and Operational Readiness Testing by providing test scenarios and coordinating efforts, serving as testing SME.
6. Analyze defects found during testing, escalate issues for resolution, and ensure timely closure.
7. Review defects in production to implement controls that prevent recurrence.
8. Apply expertise to improve product and process quality.
9. Leverage automation to reduce testing time and resources.
10. Maintain traceability between requirements and test cases.
11. Prepare and maintain knowledge transfer documentation for onboarding new team members.
12. Work with offshore testing teams, if applicable.
13. Write SQL queries or assertions to validate software functions, if applicable.
14. Create automated API test scripts to validate APIs, if applicable.

What you’ll bring to the table…

• Experience building frameworks and writing automated scripts using tools like Selenium, QTP, NightwatchJS, Codeception, Cypress, mabl, etc.
• Proficiency in Java or JavaScript.
• Experience testing databases such as SQL Server, NoSQL, BigQuery.
• Experience with API testing tools and automation (Rest-Assured, SoapUI, Postman, SOAtest, CA LISA).
• Knowledge of BDD/TDD (Cucumber/Gherkin) is preferred.
• Ability to learn new tools and frameworks quickly.

Minimum Starting Rate: $92,000.00 annually
Up to: $115,000.00 annually

Pay ranges will be adjusted upward as needed to comply with applicable state and local law. In addition to your salary, associates may be eligible for bonuses, incentives, and long-term incentives depending on role.
