Job summary

Quanex is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer in Jackson, GA to lead ISO 9001 quality system development and audits. You will train teams, manage the QA program, and act as the primary liaison for quality with customers and suppliers.

The role requires collaboration with operations, manufacturing, and product engineering to ensure product conformance and reliable quality data. Travel to facilities will be necessary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or Associate’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in a Quality position in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong mathematical background to compile statistical data.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Lean Six Sigma preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office essential.

Responsibilities

• Develop quality standards and specifications with operations, manufacturing, product engineering, suppliers and customers to ensure product acceptability.
• Establish and track quality metrics and troubleshoot quality-related issues.
• Prepare reports of internal or external quality audits and materials.
• Visit customers to resolve quality issues and verify supplier quality systems on the production floor.
• Ensure accuracy of quality documentation such as hold tags, inspection reports, data collection, supplier inspection reports and test reports.
• Administer training and certification within the internal auditing process.
• Ensure products and services conform to requirements and are controlled under the quality management system.
• Lead cross-functional teams in problem solving to establish root cause and corrective actions.
• Perform inspection tasks as needed during emergencies or absences.
• Travel to various company facilities as needed.

Quanex is looking for a SeniorQuality Engineerto join our team located in Jackson, GA.

The Sr Quality Engineer assists with the development, and implementation of quality assurance programs under ISO 9001 guidelines. This position is responsible for quality assurance training, managing the ISO 9001 system, conducting internal audits, and providing work direction to the team. They are the primary liaison between customers or suppliers and Quanex on quality-related issues and ensure reliability of products and conformance to all requirements.

What Success Looks Like:

• Work with operations, manufacturing and product engineering, suppliers, and customers to develop quality standards and specifications to ensure product acceptability.

• Assure that all products and services conform to specified requirements, are made in accordance with the quality management system, and that all documentation required by the system is kept current and properly controlled.
• Lead cross-functional teams in problem solving to establish definitive root cause and effective corrective actions for both internal and supplier quality issues.
• Perform any needed inspection tasks in emergency, temporary absences, or other appropriate circumstances.
• Works well independently and shows leadership, establishing priorities and meeting objectives for themselves and the team.
• Travel as needed to various company facilities and performs other related tasks as necessary/assigned.

Your Credentials:

• Bachelor's degree or Associate’s degree in a relevant field preferred (Mechanical or Industrial Engineering)
• 5+ years of experience in a Quality position preferred within a manufacturing environment and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience
• A strong mathematical background is required to compile statistical data
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of Lean Six Sigma is preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential

Salary Range:$68,500 to $102,000 commensurate with experience and bonus potential
