Job summary

Northern Base in New York City is seeking an experienced QE Automation Engineer to design, implement, and maintain scalable automation frameworks using Selenium and Cucumber.

You will collaborate with developers, product owners, and QA engineers in an Agile environment, build robust test suites (BDD with Gherkin), integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines, and ensure code quality, reliability, and performance across web applications.

Qualifications

• The role requires hands-on automation, programming skills, and collaboration in an Agile environment.
• Strong hands-on experience in Quality Engineering, Software Testing, and Test Automation.
• Proficiency in Selenium WebDriver for web automation.
• Experience with Cucumber and BDD.
• Proficiency in Java.
• Understanding of Gherkin syntax and Cucumber execution.
• Experience building automation frameworks (POM).
• Experience with JUnit/TestNG.
• Experience with Maven/Gradle.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain robust test automation frameworks using Selenium and Cucumber.
• Develop automated functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end test suites for web applications.
• Create and maintain BDD feature files and scenarios using Gherkin/Cucumber.
• Develop reusable automation components, utilities, page objects, and test libraries.
• Execute automated test suites, analyze failures, and report defects.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and faster feedback.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define test strategies and participate in Agile ceremonies.
• Identify candidates for automation and improve automation coverage.
• Perform API and service-level testing and validate integrations using REST tools.
• Develop and maintain test data and perform database validation with SQL.
