Job summary

Battelle in Columbus, OH is seeking a QA Inspector to join our Applied Science and Technology group, performing hands-on quality inspections of complex fabricated parts and supporting quality engineering activities.

The role emphasizes driving continuous improvement in safety, efficiency, and quality; the team collaborates across manufacturing and engineering in a defense-related environment. A compressed schedule and hybrid work model are provided.

Qualifications

Associate degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent education and/or experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience with quality inspection of complex fabricated parts.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, inspection procedures, and work instructions.
Experience using measurement tools and fixtures; proficient with ERP systems for material transactions.
Strong attention to detail and excellent written and oral communication skills; US citizenship for security clearance.

Responsibilities

Perform inspection of complex fabricated parts using hand tools and gauges.
Inspect welded parts to defined quality standards and perform in-process and final inspections.
Develop inspection instructions for complex parts with input from engineering.
Mentor other QA staff in inspection techniques and procedures.
Report quality trends to engineering and recommend corrective actions.
Support investigations of supplier and assembly issues; implement quality improvements.
Maintain inspection records and support calibration, internal audits, and safety programs.
