Tandem Ventures in Austin, TX seeks a Senior QA Engineer who will own the health of every release. You define release criteria, automate the gate, and ensure signals are trustworthy before customers see code.

You will build API test automation for Django/DRF, end-to-end browser tests with Playwright, and AI-driven test generation and maintenance. This is a high-autonomy, high-consequence role in a distributed AI-first team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in QA, SDET, or test automation with ownership of an automated suite.
• Strong hands-on coding in Python and TypeScript.
• Deep API testing experience against REST services (DRF preferred).
• Real end-to-end browser automation experience with Playwright or similar.
• CI/CD fluency and experience with GitLab CI.
• Experience using AI tools to generate or maintain tests is a plus.
• Excellent written English and clear technical communication.

Responsibilities

• Own the release gate: define truth before code reaches customers and automate the verdict.
• Develop broad API test automation for Django/DRF contracts and permissions.
• Build end-to-end browser automation to cover revenue-generating journeys.
• Create AI-driven test generation and maintenance pipelines.
• Triage failures with actionable hypotheses and reduce flaky tests.
• Maintain reproducible environments and realistic fixtures for testing.
• Ensure non-functional coverage, performance checks, and accessibility testing.
