Job summary
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is seeking an Engineering Quality Assurance Specialist 3 to lead QA testing and inspection of materials across challenging highway projects. This role requires supervising external consultants, ensuring correct procedures, and applying professional judgment to improve QA outcomes.
You will mentor staff, perform independent IA reviews, and collaborate with project teams to maintain contract conformance.
Qualifications
- Eight (8) years of experience in quality control or testing processes of materials for highway/bridge/facilities construction.
- NICET Level 3 Certification in Construction Materials Testing/Asphalt, Concrete, or Transportation Construction Inspection Technology/Highway Construction Inspection.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field or 4 years + degree equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead QA testing and inspection of materials for highway and bridge construction.
- Supervise external consultants/contractors involved in QA activities.
- Mentor inspection staff and ensure calibration and procedures are followed.
- Review contractor and material producer work for contract compliance and QA standards.
- Document, track, and analyze QA activities; report discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
