Job summary

Proximia, Bozeman, MT, seeks a senior QA Engineer to own quality end-to-end. You will gate releases, build automation, and drive a growing QA platform across web, API, mobile, desktop, and hardware in our lab. You will balance automation with critical defect reporting and real-world testing in a fast-growing startup.

You will collaborate with engineering and product, mentor QA teammates, and shape testing standards. You must be a U.S.

Qualifications

• At least seven years in software QA, including ownership of test automation in production.
• Gated real releases and able to describe a time you held one.
• Experience testing desktop software on Windows and/or macOS, including installers and upgrades.
• Git-based workflow: branches, pull requests, code review, CI.
• Clear written communication; tickets, test plans, and run records.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment where you own outcomes.
• A degree in a technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

• Release gating across desktop, web, APIs, and mobile surfaces; maintain run records and QA sign-off.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans and a current test-case library.
• Build and maintain automated web, API, desktop, and mobile suites; ensure traceability to test cases.
• Extend the internal QA console to track test runs, sign-offs, and coverage.
• Keep CI/CD suites green and publish readable test results and dashboards.
• Reproduce, isolate, and file prioritized defect tickets; verify fixes; run regression tests.
• Manage the test lab with desktops, mobile devices, and hardware.
• Collaborate with engineering and product to ensure testability and early risk awareness.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to QA team; promote QA tooling best practices.
• Leverage AI-assisted tooling for test generation, maintenance, triage, and reporting.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support department and company goals.
