Job summary

Plane seeks an experienced QA Automation Engineer to own and evolve the automated test suite for web and Electron desktop clients. You will influence framework design, decide coverage budgets, and ensure tests run reliably across PRs and releases.

You will tackle offline and concurrent-edit scenarios, validate APIs, and maintain fast test cycles in CI. Remote collaboration across San Francisco, Hyderabad, and the broader community is expected.

Qualifications

• Built an automation framework with structure, fixtures and test data decisions.
• Fluent in Playwright or Cypress and TypeScript or JavaScript.
• Made a flaky test suite trustworthy again and reduced false positives.
• Test APIs as well as UI interfaces, including REST endpoints and authentication.
• Experience running tests in CI/CD pipelines, e.g., GitHub Actions.

Responsibilities

• Own the automated test suite for Plane's web and desktop clients, from framework design to what runs on every PR and before release.
• Build coverage for challenging areas: concurrent editing, offline/recovery, and agent actions with non-deterministic outcomes.
• Decide test scope and priorities; allocate coverage where failures would reach customers.
• Keep the suite fast and reliable; eliminate flaky tests and improve developer confidence.
• Test what customers actually run: Cloud, self-hosted, and older versions across browsers/hardware beyond our control.
• Collaborate daily with engineers and product teams across San Francisco and Hyderabad, plus community contributors.
• Triage failures to distinguish real defects from scripts or environment issues, daily.
