Job summary

Onto Innovation in Wilmington, MA is seeking a Senior QA Engineer to lead requirements-based and system-level testing across projects in our Inspection Business Unit.

You will collaborate with software, hardware, and manufacturing teams to validate features, develop test plans, automate and execute tests, and ensure high-quality, reliable software and systems.

Onto Innovation strives to optimize customers’ critical path of progress by making them smarter, faster and more efficient.**Job Summary & Responsibilities*** Perform requirements-based and system level testing across projects and platforms ensuring quality and efficiency for Onto's Inspection Business Unit solutions* Cross-functional collaboration with software, hardware, manufacturing and applications teams to validate software* Analyze and verify software requirements for testability, clarity and completeness* Develop comprehensive test plans for new features and products* Investigate, reproduce, log and escalate issues/defects* Develop efficient test strategies (test cases and procedures) for the different sub-systems comprising the product* Develop and execute automated and manual tests, regression, functional, and acceptance tests* Conduct thorough testing and debugging of software to ensure high-quality and reliable operation* Participate in the design and implementation of new features and functionalities* Perform design/code reviews for all automation scripts and manual test cases, collaborating with systems engineers, software developers, and other technical staff* Provide technical support and guidance to other team members* Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies in software development and hardware-software integration**Qualifications**Required Qualifications* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field* Ability to understand requirements and design test strategies and plans based on those requirements* Proven experience (7+ years) in software testing and/or systems level testing for highly technical applications* Experience developing automation frameworks or automated tests and scripting (Python, JavaScript, etc.)* Experience testing client/server solutions* Excellent skillset focused on Windows development, the .NET platform (C#, C++), and relational databases (SQL Server a plus)* Experience with software development methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, or Kanban* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail and quality.
