Oliver James Group is seeking a Senior Quality Engineering Lead to build an enterprise-wide QA platform for a leading financial services organization. You will shape testing standards, frameworks and tools across unit, integration, front-end and platform testing, while managing external delivery partners to align with architecture and long-term direction.

You will partner with engineering and product teams to embed quality into the delivery lifecycle, mentor teams, and report on quality metrics

Qualifications

• Significant experience in quality engineering or test automation.
• Hands-on expertise with front-end automation tools such as Playwright, Cucumber and Selenium.
• Strong experience with API, database, data/file ingestion and performance testing.
• Understanding of unit/integration testing within CI/CD pipelines.
• Proven experience managing vendors and external partners.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Quality Engineering Lead to help build an enterprise-wide quality assurance platform for a leading financial services organization. This is not a role focused on testing individual applications. Instead, you will help design and deliver a scalable, reusable QA capability that serves the whole organization. Working closely with the Director of QA, you will shape testing standards, frameworks and tools across unit, integration, front-end and platform testing. A key part of the role is managing external delivery partners and making sure their work fits the organization's target architecture and long-term technology direction.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise QA Platform

• Help design, build and evolve an enterprise QA platform that gives consistent, scalable quality coverage across the technology estate
• Set standards and best practices for unit and integration testing across development teams
• Lead front-end test automation strategy and execution using tools such as Playwright, Cucumber and Selenium
• Drive platform-level testing across APIs, databases, file ingestion, scalability and performance

Vendor & Delivery Management

• Manage relationships with external testing and delivery partners, holding them accountable for quality, timelines and outcomes
• Make sure vendor solutions align with the organization's target architecture and standards, rather than the vendor's preferred approach
• Challenge external partners with confidence and constructive input when proposals or deliverables don't meet architectural or quality expectations
• Act as the onshore technical lead, directing and coordinating offshore delivery teams

Collaboration & Leadership

• Partner with engineering, architecture and product teams to build quality into the delivery lifecycle
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship on test automation and quality engineering practices
• Report on quality metrics, risks and platform maturity to QA leadership

What You'll Bring

• Significant experience in quality engineering or test automation, including building QA frameworks or platforms at enterprise scale
• Hands-on expertise with front-end automation tools such as Playwright, Cucumber and/or Selenium
• Strong experience with API, database, data/file ingestion and performance testing
• A solid understanding of unit and integration testing practices and how they fit into CI/CD pipelines
• Proven experience managing vendors and external partners, including holding them to agreed architecture and quality standards
• Experience leading in an onshore/offshore delivery model
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge and influence both internal teams and external partners

Preferred

• Experience in financial services or insurance
• Experience setting up quality engineering capabilities from scratch or transforming existing QA functions
