Job summary

Kelp Infotech in the United States seeks a Senior Python Tech Lead to own architecture, backend development, and delivery for scalable retail and POS platforms. This role blends technical leadership with team mentoring and direct customer engagement to drive enterprise-grade solutions.

You will architect services in Python, lead a small team, and collaborate with product and program teams to ensure timely, high-quality releases across cloud-native environments.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with strong Python expertise (Django, Flask, or FastAPI).
• 2+ years leading small engineering teams.
• Hands-on experience designing and operating production workloads on AWS.
• Strong experience in Retail/POS domains such as inventory, payments, loyalty, pricing, promotions, and store operations.
• Excellent knowledge of Data Structures, Algorithms, System Design, and Distributed Systems.
• Advanced Oracle Database expertise including SQL, PL/SQL, query optimization, indexing, partitioning, and performance tuning.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, or MongoDB is an advantage.
• Strong experience in REST APIs, third-party integrations, Git workflows, automated testing, and CI/CD practices.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and develop scalable backend services and APIs using Python.
• Drive the development of retail and POS functionalities including transactions, inventory, pricing, promotions, loyalty, and store operations.
• Define engineering standards, conduct code reviews, and mentor team members.
• Lead end-to-end project delivery from requirement analysis to deployment and production support.
• Troubleshoot and optimize performance, scalability, and reliability of production systems.
• Lead and mentor a team of 3 to 4 engineers.
• Collaborate with Product and Program teams for sprint planning and delivery management.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, and talent development initiatives.
