Job summary

BlackLine is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and scale cloud-based backend services in a hybrid environment. You will work across teams to define and build features, optimize performance, and drive architectural improvements while mentoring juniors.

Ideal candidates have strong CS fundamentals, 5+ years in software development, and experience with AI-first strategies, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems. The role emphasizes automation, testing, and on-call readiness.

Qualifications

BS degree in Computer Science plus 5 years' experience, or MS degree in Computer Science with 3+ years' experience in software development.
3+ years building Web Applications, SaaS products, and RESTful APIs.
Experience with AI-First development approach.
Strong knowledge of SQL including stored procedures and data models.
Experience with service-oriented architecture and distributed systems.
Experience with agile development methodologies (Scrum preferred).
Passion for engineering excellence, automation, and testing.

Responsibilities

Design, develop and deliver product features with attention to quality and timelines.
Implement and enforce software development practices for performance, security, and maintainability.
Maintain high standards of code quality with clear documentation and testing.
Mentor junior developers and drive a quality-first culture across the team.
Identify bottlenecks and drive improvements in processes and tooling.
Support deployments and on-call rotations as needed.
