TCG seeks a Senior Software Engineer in Washington, DC for a government contractor role. You will convert Bash batch jobs to Python, preserve functionality, and optimize for reliability. Two days a week on-site, with US citizenship and a clearance path.

Expect collaboration with stakeholders and focus on secure coding practices. Ideal candidates have 7+ years in software development, strong Linux/Unix, Bash, and Python skills, plus testing and debugging expertise.

Qualifications

• Seven years of professional software development or scripting experience.
• Experience with Bash and Python in Linux/Unix environments.
• Ability to troubleshoot network connectivity and secure environment issues.
• Experience translating business logic into maintainable software.
• Experience developing and executing test cases to validate software functionality.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills with log analysis.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Analyze Bash scripts and batch jobs to understand logic and dependencies.
• Rewrite Bash-based jobs in Python preserving functionality.
• Refactor code for reuse, efficiency, reliability, and maintainability.
• Apply secure coding practices and robust logging.
• Develop isolated test environments for conversion validation.
• Create and execute test cases to verify converted jobs.
• Document conversion activities and technical decisions.
• Provide production support and address incidents.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure operational needs.
• Stay current with Python development practices.
