Job summary

Follett seeks a Team Lead, Python/Django Engineering to serve as the deepest technical authority on an engineering team building Python/Django services backed by PostgreSQL, with a React front-end. This backend-first role emphasizes architecture, code quality, and AI-assisted development practices.

You will collaborate with cross-functional partners, set technical direction, mentor engineers, and own a reliable delivery pipeline, while aligning with engineering leadership and enterprise

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Eng, or related field.
• 7+ years of Python software engineering experience with Django.
• Proven technical authority for architecture and standards.
• Strong PostgreSQL expertise: design, indexing, migrations.
• Experience with enterprise integrations and event-driven architectures.
• RESTful API development at scale.
• CI/CD, Git, and automated tests.
• Cloud and containerization: Azure, AWS, or GCP; Docker/Kubernetes.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture decisions and technical roadmap.
• Review front-end work for backend consistency.
• Design and lead enterprise integrations and data flows.
• Lead code reviews and mentorship.
• Improve CI/CD, tests, deployment safety.
