Job summary

Oakridge Staffing seeks a Python developer to join a growing Hedge Fund/Asset Management technology team in New York. You will help build scalable applications across front, middle, and back office, working with a small team of four engineers.

You are expected to have strong CS fundamentals, be able to work independently, and communicate effectively with designers, support staff, and fellow engineers. A BS/MS/PhD is nice but not mandatory if you have the experience.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science/Math/Physics/Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
• Strong experience with Python.
• Solid understanding of modern database technology.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a fast moving team.

Responsibilities

• Develop scalable Python-based applications for front, middle, and back office systems.
• Collaborate with designers, support, and other engineers to explain complex technical concepts.

We are working with an expanding Hedge Fund/Asset Management firm that is building out there technology team from scratch. The team is developing application across front, middle and back office and are now looking to bring on a Python developer to join the team of 4. This firm has the recipe to grow a lot, making this a great time to join.

What you bring to the table:

You are an engineer, first and foremost. You can rapidly build a product that will scale. You thrive in a work environment that requires strong problem solving skills and independent self-direction, coupled with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication. You are a strong communicator, explaining complex technical concepts to designers, support, and other engineers is no problem for you.

A BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or the equivalent is nice to have, but the most important requirement is experience.

You possess strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, programming languages, distributed systems, and information retrieval. And finally, your accomplishments are much more important than your paper credentials.

Basic Requirements:
