Job summary

Coherent Solutions, Inc. is seeking a senior Python backend engineer to own scalable, distributed services for a fast-growing sports tech platform.

You will design, develop, and deploy backend APIs using Python, Django or FastAPI, and guide architecture decisions to support millions of users. You will optimize latency and resilience, implement robust testing, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with product, frontend, and DevOps teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Python backend development.
• Solid experience with Django/FastAPI and asyncio.
• Production experience with Apache Kafka.
• Strong experience with distributed systems and microservices.
• Experience deploying and managing Dockerized applications.
• Familiarity with AWS or another cloud provider.
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL.
• Experience with CI/CD and test automation.
• Knowledge of monitoring/logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana.
• Comfortable in Agile teams.
• English level: B2 or higher.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of backend services from design to deployment and maintenance.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable distributed backend services using Python and Django.
• Architect distributed systems to support millions of users with low latency and high availability.
• Own critical backend components including APIs, data pipelines, and messaging (Kafka).
• Optimize systems for throughput, latency, fault tolerance, and resilience under heavy load.
• Implement robust testing strategies (unit, integration, performance).
• Drive development process improvements and observability (monitoring/logging).
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and DevOps to ship reliable features on tight timelines.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers through code reviews and architecture discussions.
