Job summary

Jobtailor in Palo Alto seeks an experienced automation engineer to design, build, and maintain Python-based frameworks for hardware test benches and to optimize CI/CD pipelines for rapid testing cycles.

You will assemble and configure systems, administer Linux environments, and triage failures across software, network, and hardware layers while collaborating with firmware and software teams to scale our test infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of Python automation experience in scripting or hardware interaction.
• Proficient in Linux shell scripting, permissions, and package management.
• Hands-on hardware assembly or maintenance experience.
• Ability to troubleshoot across software, network, and hardware under time pressure.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
• Familiarity with system monitoring and observability in Linux.
• Experience building or maintaining hardware test benches in QA/engineering.
• Exposure to basic network troubleshooting and packet capture.
• Experience collaborating with firmware, software, or DevOps teams in fast-paced tests.
• Current authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Python-based automation frameworks for hardware test benches.
• Manage and optimize CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and rapid deployment.
• Physically assemble and configure computer hardware and test rigs.
• Administer Linux-based test environments and ensure reliable performance.
• Serve as first responder for test bench failures and triage root causes.
• Collaborate with test engineers and firmware/software teams to integrate new hardware.
• Monitor system health and pipeline performance, identify bottlenecks.
• Document automation tooling, bench configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Develop technology for electric vehicles, including OS, zonal controllers, cloud, connectivity.
