Job summary

Programmers.io is seeking a hardware test engineer in California to join the lab. You will perform first-level triage for PCs and server platforms, design diagnostic tools, and implement test automation using Python and Shell.

The role involves working with CPUs and GPUs, testing across Windows and Linux, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support diagnostics, validation, and smooth NPIs in a lab environment.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required.
• Strong scripting skills in Python and Shell.
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux OS environments.
• Working knowledge of hardware protocols: Ethernet, Infiniband, PCIe, USB, HDMI, I2C, SPI.
• Experience with CPUs and GPUs.
• Proficient in using test equipment for diagnostics and validation.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform first-level hardware triage and troubleshooting for PCs and server platforms.
• Design and implement diagnostic tools and scripts for early hardware validation and fault isolation.
• Identify and resolve setup issues and test failures using structured troubleshooting methodologies.
• Develop and maintain test automation using Shell and Python scripting.
• Work with motherboards and GPU platforms in lab environments.
• Work with systems connected by various networking protcols, including Ethernet, NVLink and Infiniband
• Operate in Windows and Linux operating systems for test and debug tasks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support diagnostics, validation, and smooth product transitions in the NPI cycle.
