Job summary

eBay's Nexpart engineering team seeks a Senior Python Engineer, AI, to design, build, and maintain scalable backend services powering automotive B2B workflows and AI-enabled features.

You will collaborate with product, QA, and business teams to deliver robust APIs, observability, and reliable data pipelines while applying AI tooling to improve productivity and delivery speed.

Remote roles are not eligible for U.S. visa sponsorship. Base pay ranges from $118,800 to $205,600 plus benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional Python development experience in production environments.
• Strong experience building asynchronous, API-driven microservices with FastAPI and asyncio.
• Solid understanding of scalable backend architectures and service-to-service integrations.
• Experience with distributed systems patterns including queues, caching, pub/sub, and background processing.
• Excellent English communication skills, written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Define technical requirements with product, business, and engineering stakeholders.
• Design, develop, and maintain Python-based applications & services that power core platform workflows.
• Build and integrate scalable APIs and microservices for internal and external consumers.
• Own backend design for reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Optimize performance using distributed technologies and observability tooling.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards.
• Collaborate with development, QA, and business teams to deliver high-quality releases.
• Create and maintain system documentation and AI-enabled tooling.
• Leverage AI-powered tools to improve productivity and code quality.
