Job summary

Malone Workforce Solutions is collaborating with a client near West Point, GA seeking a Senior Purchasing Specialist to lead purchasing for sourcing, supplier selection and orders. This is a direct hire in-office role with relocation assistance possible.

Reporting to Purchasing Manager, this role requires 3+ years in purchasing (Automotive preferred), knowledge of US customs, and strong supplier management skills to drive cost savings and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or comparable background in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Economics or Finance.
• 3+ years’ purchasing experience (Automotive industry preferred).
• Knowledge of U.S. Custom regulations and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Lead purchasing activities for sourcing, supplier selection and order placement.
• Oversee supplier performance and quality issues; manage cost, price, schedule trade-offs.
• Source and procure materials meeting specs and schedules cost-effectively.
• Negotiate terms including material price for new projects with suppliers.
• Bid, nominate suppliers and sign purchasing contracts.
• Analyze parts quality issues, cost reductions and supply risks.
• Understand USMCA and tariff framework to manage sourcing compliance.

Job description

We are working with a client near the West Point, GA area who is seeking a Senior Purchasing Specialist to join their team. This position will be responsible for leading the purchasing activities for sourcing, supplier selection and order placement. This position reports directly to the Purchasing Manager and will have direct reports. This is a direct hire position that would be in office 5 days a week. Relocation assistance could be available.

Responsibilities:

• Perform key duties in a plant including EO/4M Changes Management, Parts Development, Suppliers’ Quality Issues.
• New project development, process management and any other issues regarding Supply Chain.
• Source and procure materials that meet specifications and schedules in the most cost-effective manner.
• Consider price, schedule and delivery as well as past supplier performance and quality.
• Check Cost information for parts change (Investment Cost, Increase/Decrease of unit price, etc.)
• Collect and evaluate countermeasures regarding suppliers’ parts and quality issues.
• A comprehensive understanding of USMCA and the overall tariff framework is required.
• Negotiate terms and conditions including material price with suppliers for new projects.
• Bidding and supplier nomination and signing of the purchasing contract.
• Analyze parts quality issues, productivity improvement, part supply issues, cost reduction, parts localization and customer requests.
• Analysis forecast and solve potential risk of suppliers’ part shortage in advance.

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree or comparable background of work related experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Economics or Finance.
