Job summary

Thompson Solutions Group seeks an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead purchasing operations across Electrical Construction, Service, and Limited Energy teams. You will partner with leaders to develop strategies, manage staff, and ensure timely access to materials and resources for project success.

This high-impact role emphasizes supplier relationships, contract negotiations, and process improvements to drive value and efficiency.

Qualifications

7-10 years of progressive purchasing or supply chain experience.
Leadership experience managing a team.
Strong negotiating and relationship-building skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Solid understanding of purchasing practices, policies, and vendor management.
Analytical, research, and problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to learn ERP systems and new software.

Responsibilities

Lead the Purchasing Department and oversee material procurement across multiple business units.
Develop purchasing strategies that support project success and company growth.
Strengthen supplier partnerships to ensure quality, availability, and pricing.
Negotiate contracts, pricing, and supplier programs to maximize value.
Collaborate with project, service, and operations teams to forecast needs.
Establish and monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvement.
Source materials, equipment, rentals, and subcontracted services cost-effectively.
Coach and develop purchasing and inventory staff; ensure compliant processes.
