Job summary

Thompson Solutions Group is seeking a seasoned Purchasing Manager to lead our purchasing operations and ensure the timely delivery of materials and services for Electrical Construction, Service, and Limited Energy teams.

You will develop sourcing strategies, manage staff, and partner with leaders to drive efficiency, cost control, and supplier performance across projects. The role requires strategic thinking and strong negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• 7-10 years of progressive purchasing or supply chain experience.
• Leadership experience managing or leading a team.
• Strong negotiating skills with ability to build productive relationships.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong organizational abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
• Thorough understanding of purchasing practices, policies, and vendor management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new ERP systems.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites and meetings as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Purchasing Department and support material procurement across multiple business units.
• Develop purchasing strategies that support project success, operational goals, and company growth.
• Build and strengthen supplier partnerships to ensure quality, availability, and competitive pricing.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing agreements, and supplier programs to maximize value.
• Collaborate with project, service, and operations teams to anticipate and meet purchasing needs.
• Establish and monitor supplier performance standards and drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure materials, equipment, rentals, and subcontracted services are sourced efficiently and cost effectively.
• Lead, coach, and develop purchasing and inventory team members.
• Oversee purchasing processes, documentation, and compliance with company procedures.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
