Job summary

Atlantic Constructors Inc. is seeking a Purchasing Agent to manage material procurement for commercial and industrial projects. You will review drawings and bid docs, develop sourcing strategies, and coordinate with PM, Estimating, and fabrication teams to ensure accurate BOMs and timely deliveries.

The role requires five years of purchasing/estimating experience, strong negotiation skills, and proficiency with procurement software and ERP systems. Office-based with site visits as needed.

Qualifications

• Five years' experience in purchasing, estimating, project coordination, mechanical contracting, structural steel procurement, or equivalent.
• Knowledge of structural steel materials, fabrication processes, and procurement software.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and material schedules.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong organizational, negotiation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specs and bid documents to determine material procurement needs.
• Develop purchasing strategies for structural steel, miscellaneous metals, plumbing, HVAC and mechanical components.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor quotations; verify pricing, quantities, lead times and delivery schedules.
• Purchase structural steel, miscellaneous metals, supports, equipment and related materials for projects.
• Coordinate with PM, Estimating, VDC, fabrication and field operations to ensure BOMs and on-time delivery.
• Track long-lead materials and communicate procurement risks; organize vendor deliveries.
• Maintain records of POs, quotes, commitments and rebates; manage supplier contracts.
• Negotiate pricing, freight terms, payment terms, and delivery schedules with vendors.
• Monitor market conditions and seek opportunities for cost savings via supplier agreements.
