Current vacancy is for a Senior Purchasing Agent. Candidates who meet the qualifications for a Purchasing Agent II may also be considered if the position is not filled after processing all of the Senior Purchasing Agent candidates.


Senior Purchasing Agent Requirements:

Salary: $65,529.45 - $101,656.80

  1. Associate’s degree with coursework emphasis in Business Administration, Purchasing, Marketing or a closely related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  2. A minimum of five (5) years journey level experience, including two (2) years of progressively responsible lead or supervisory experience in governmental purchasing for a moderate to large-scale institution, including writing complex technical specifications.
  3. Experience should include working with ERP purchasing modules.
  4. Possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license throughout employment without restrictions affecting job performance.
  5. Functional experience with PeopleSoft is preferred.
  6. Obtain or have a NIGP Certification such as CPPB, CPPO, or CPP within two (2) years of hire or promotion.
  7. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered, which must be clearly documented.
Purchasing Agent II Requirements:

Salary: $59,531.17 - $92,352.35

  1. Associate's degree in Business Administration, Purchasing, Marketing, or a related field.
  2. At least three (3) years of progressively responsible purchasing experience in government for a moderate to large-scale institution.
  3. Valid Florida driver’s license without restrictions affecting performance.
  4. Experience with ERP purchasing modules.
  5. Functional experience with PeopleSoft is preferred.
  6. CPPB certification is preferred.
  7. Experience in governmental purchasing is preferred.
  8. Equivalent training and experience may be considered, with documentation.
Position Overview:

The Senior Purchasing Agent applies professional purchasing principles within the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, covering procurement and contracts. Responsibilities include acquiring supplies and services at competitive prices, overseeing procurement processes, preparing solicitations, and supporting ERP systems. May supervise staff and provide guidance on procedures and systems.

The Purchasing Agent II performs routine to moderately complex purchasing tasks, including preparing solicitations, reviewing acquisition methods, and processing purchase orders. Provides support for procurement activities and maintains vendor and contract records.

Essential Functions:
  • Assist with problem resolution related to contracts, purchase orders, and solicitations.
  • Support day-to-day operations and supervise subordinate staff as needed.
  • Maintain ERP system security and assist with system upgrades and reports.
  • Coordinate with IT and other departments on procurement systems and processes.
  • Prepare and process solicitations and purchase orders.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and Florida statutes.
  • Maintain procurement documentation and vendor relationships.
Additional Functions:

Responsibilities may include reviewing and preparing solicitations, managing contracts electronically, and supporting procurement policies and procedures across the organization.

Tasks involve physical effort consistent with sedentary to light work, mainly performed in an office environment.
