Senior Purchasing Agent Requirements:
Salary: $65,529.45 - $101,656.80
- Associate’s degree with coursework emphasis in Business Administration, Purchasing, Marketing or closely related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- A minimum of five (5) years journey level experience including two (2) years of progressively responsible lead or supervisory experience in governmental purchasing for a moderate to large scale institution, including writing complex technical specifications.
- Experience with ERP purchasing modules is demonstrated experience.
- Possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license without restrictions affecting job performance.
- Functional experience with PeopleSoft is preferred.
- Obtain or have a NIGP Certification as a Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB), Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO), or Certified Procurement Professional (CPP) within two years of hire or promotion.
- An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered, which must be clearly documented.
Purchasing Agent II Requirements:
Salary: $59,531.17 - $92,352.35
- Associate's degree with coursework emphasis in Business Administration, Purchasing, Marketing or closely related field.
- A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in governmental purchasing for a moderate to large scale institution.
- Valid Florida driver's license without restrictions affecting job performance.
- Experience with ERP purchasing modules is demonstrated experience.
- Functional experience with PeopleSoft is preferred.
- Certification as a Certified Public Purchasing Buyer (CPPB) is preferred.
- Experience in governmental purchasing for a moderate to large scale institution is preferred.

Position Overview:
The Senior Purchasing Agent applies professional purchasing principles within the Purchasing Division of the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, overseeing procurement and contracts, managing complex purchasing functions, preparing solicitations, and supporting the ERP System. The position may supervise staff and provide guidance to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
The Purchasing Agent II performs routine to moderately complex purchasing tasks, including preparing solicitations and purchase orders, reviewing procurement methods, and supporting contract administration.
Essential Functions:
- Assist and support agency users and contract administrators with issues related to contracts, purchase orders, and solicitations.
- Support day-to-day operations and manage subordinate staff as needed.
- Oversee and mentor staff in procedures and systems.
- Maintain ERP system security and assist with system upgrades and reports.
- Coordinate with IT for troubleshooting and system enhancements.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies and Florida Statutes.
- Prepare and process solicitations, review acquisition methods, and develop technical specifications.
- Manage contracts electronically, monitor expiration and renewal, and assist with contract development and evaluation.
