Job summary

Eden in Somerville, MA, is seeking a PhD/Master’s level engineer to lead design and validation of next-generation pulsed power systems (Marx-style HV architectures) for high-energy applications. You will build modular generators, run trade studies, and ensure reliability for field operation.

You will collaborate with geoscience teams to relate pulse parameters to permeability gains, develop safety practices, and produce reports and proposals. Travel 10–25% may be required.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s in Electrical / Pulsed Power / Power Electronics / HV Engineering is required.
• 5+ years designing, building, and testing HV pulsed power systems from concept to hardware integration.
• Strong command of fast switching, capacitor energy storage, insulation coordination, pulse diagnostics, and protection.
• Experience creating and enforcing safety practices for HV lab or field environments.

Responsibilities

• Own design and development of next-generation pulsed power systems (Marx or related) delivering high-energy pulses.
• Architect modular, field-deployable generator stacks for reliability and waveform fidelity.
• Run trade studies on switching topologies, insulation schemes, and energy delivery for performance and cost.
• Integrate high-speed diagnostics, sensing, and controls to monitor pulse shape and component health.
• Collaborate with geoscience teammates to relate pulse parameters to permeability gains and fracture outcomes.
• Draft technical reports, funding proposals, and safety/operations documentation.
• Establish and enforce HV/EHS protocols and travel for field deployments (10–25%).
