Job summary

The City of Oregon City Public Works Department is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead design, analysis, bidding and construction of key transportation and utility projects. You will coordinate with engineers, staff, consultants and city leadership to deliver high-quality public works improvements for the community.

Under the direction of the City Engineer, you will develop feasibility studies, manage project schedules and budgets, prepare RFPs, review plans and ensure compliance with city

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, or closely related engineering discipline.
• Five years of progressively responsible professional engineering experience.
• Active Professional Engineer license; Oregon PE within 6 months of employment.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background check.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams on public works projects.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and participate with engineers and staff in developing, implementing and evaluating engineering plans, work processes, systems and procedures.
• Design and guide staff or consultants in public works construction and upgrades (streets, transportation, structures, utilities).
• Prepare feasibility and cost estimates; develop specifications; manage schedules and progress reviews.
• Develop long-range strategic plans for facilities and infrastructure maintenance and development; oversee studies for long-range planning.
• Coordinate permits, negotiate contracts with consultants and contractors; administer contracts and inter-local agreements.
