Santa Cruz Regional 9-1-1 seeks a Public Safety Dispatcher II who will handle the full range of radio-telephone duties for dispatching public safety personnel and equipment. The role operates on a 24/7 schedule under supervision of an Operations Supervisor, serving as a journey level position in the dispatcher series.

Qualifikationen

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Ability to hear and comprehend radio traffic.
• Color vision adequate to read console lighting.
• Ability to read, write and speak clear English.
• Legible handwriting required for dispatch logs.
• Manual dexterity to operate computer terminals and consoles.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
• Willing to undergo a comprehensive background investigation.
• No felony convictions prohibiting DOJ access approval.
• CPR and First Aid certifications required; EMD possible.

Aufgaben

• Transmit and receive messages via radios, 9-1-1 lines, and data terminals.
• Monitor status of personnel and equipment; initiate protective actions.
• Analyze situations and take action to ensure field safety.
• Receive reports and coordinate dispatch of emergency units.
• Read and utilize computer codes and displays.
• Interface with national/state/local law enforcement networks.
• Maintain records and generate required reports.
• Provide backup to other dispatchers.
