The City of Chicago seeks a Public Relations Representative III to oversee and participate in creating public information materials for departmental programs and services.

You will draft news releases, manage content for newsletters, websites and social media, and coordinate events with community groups to inform the public. Strong writing, media relations and project coordination skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English or related field plus three years of public information experience.
• Seven years of public information experience if the above criteria are not fulfilled.
• Associate’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, English or related field plus five years of public information experience.
• Master’s Degree or higher in Journalism, Communications, English or related field plus two years of public information experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and participates in development of news articles and press releases.
• Prepares content for newsletters, brochures, pamphlets and websites.
• Coordinates meetings to inform community groups about events.
• Designs promotional materials including banners and posters.
• Oversees staff preparing and disseminating departmental publications.
• Maintains records of public information and event activities.
