Job summary

Metas Solutions seeks an experienced Public Health Data Scientist to deliver advanced analytics for federal public health initiatives. The role is remote and involves epidemiologic, statistical, and data analytic work with large healthcare datasets, including EHRs and claims.

You will lead study design, analytic plans, and reproducible workflows in cloud environments. Responsibilities include developing analytic reports, collaborating with epidemiologists and engineers, and applying ML/AI

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in data science, epidemiology, biostatistics, public health or related field with 5+ years of related experience.
• Experience designing studies and analytic plans for public health surveillance and research.
• Experience collaborating with epidemiologists, data scientists, data managers and engineers.
• Experience analyzing large healthcare/public health datasets (EHR, claims, labs, etc.).
• Experience with ML/AI and advanced statistical modeling.
• Ability to develop, maintain, and review analytic code in Python, R, SQL.
• Familiarity with healthcare coding systems and obtaining Federal Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific, epidemiologic, statistical, and data analytic support.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for CDC Data Hub datasets, advising on data structure and analytic methods.
• Develop research questions, analytic plans, and methodological approaches for public health surveillance and research.
• Conduct advanced analyses of large, complex healthcare datasets including EHRs and claims.
• Lead development of analytic reports, technical briefs, and publications.
• Collaborate with data scientists, epidemiologists, data managers and engineers on data quality and platform capabilities.
• Support AI/ML analyses including data prep, feature engineering, model development, validation, and interpretation.
• Develop reusable analytic workflows within cloud platforms like Palantir Foundry and Databricks.
• Document code, QC procedures, and ensure reproducible analytic workflows.
• Review analyses for methodological rigor and scientific validity.
