Job summary

Metas Solutions is seeking a Biology/Public Health Surveillance AI Specialist for a remote role to advance AI-enabled health analytics. You’ll partner with epidemiologists, data scientists, AI engineers, and business analysts to translate surveillance questions into measurable AI use cases and ensure outputs are scientifically sound.

You will evaluate AI and Generative AI tools for surveillance tasks, develop evaluation datasets, and ensure results meet quality, bias, and explainability

Qualifications

• Degree in biology, epidemiology, public health, or related science.
• 5+ years in biology, epidemiology, or public health surveillance.
• Experience with public health data interpretation and disease trends.
• Experience with multidisciplinary teams of scientists and engineers.
• Understanding AI/ML and its limits in public health contexts.

Responsibilities

• Design and evaluate AI-enabled public health surveillance solutions.
• Translate public health needs into AI use cases and workflows.
• Evaluate AI tools for event detection, summarization, information extraction, classification, trend identification, and evidence synthesis.
• Develop test scenarios and evaluation datasets from surveillance data and literature.
• Assess AI outputs for scientific accuracy, bias, explainability, and supporting evidence.
• Support validation of AI-driven workflows using diverse surveillance data.
• Collaborate with AI and data engineering to improve prompts, RAG, and evaluation methods.
• Document results and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Stay current with AI and public health advances and apply them to programs.
• Participate in knowledge sharing and team-building.
